Audience

Early years practitioners and wraparound care playworkers.

Aims

Looking at creative play for children from two to five years old, beyond the toy box.
To explore the role of creative play in early childhood development, understand how imaginative and open-ended play supports cognitive, social, and emotional growth in children aged two to five.

To provide practical strategies for fostering creativity beyond traditional toys, encouraging the use of everyday objects, storytelling, outdoor play, and artistic activities to enhance children's play experiences.

Audience

This course is aimed at an experienced practitioner with an interest and drive to support and develop equality practice within the provision.  

Aims

  • Completion of this course will enable the learner to fulfil the role of ENCo within their provision.
    Develop an enhanced level of understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the ENCo
  • Become familiar with the ENCo handbook and other materials which are relevant to the role of ENCo.
  • Consider everyday equality issues and explore effective strategies to embed high-quality inclusive practice.
  • Develop a vision for their provision, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.

Schools, please note that this course is only suitable for your staff if you have on-site childcare provision.

Additional information

The course will be delivered over two online sessions. Areas of practice will include, but are not limited to:

  • Policy and legislation.
  • Explorations of prejudice.
  • Narrowing the gap.
  • Cultural capital.
  • British values.
  • Supporting multilingual learners.

There will be additional reading and short work-based tasks for learners to complete between the sessions. Learners must complete all aspects, including the additional work, to complete the course.

  • Improve problem-solving and adaptability, equip playworkers with strategies to manage challenges, encourage creativity, and adapt play opportunities to meet diverse needs and settings effectively.
  • To become familiar with the playwork principles and the play cycle.
