Audience
This course is aimed at senior staff members holding a minimum level three qualification and with at least two years post-qualifying experience. The role of ENCo is a responsible position which should be viewed as part of the management team.
Aims
Completion of this course will enable the learner to fulfil the role of ENCo within their setting.
- Develop an enhanced level of understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the ENCo.
- Become familiar with the ENCo handbook and other materials which are relevant to the role of ENCo.
- Consider everyday equality issues and explore effective strategies to embed high-quality inclusive practice.
- Develop a vision for their setting, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
Note for schools, this course is only suitable for your staff if you have on-site childcare provision.
Additional information
The course will be delivered in six online sessions. Areas of practice will include, but are not limited to:
- Policy and legislation.
- Explorations of prejudice.
- Narrowing the gap.
- Cultural capital.
- British values.
- Supporting multilingual learners.
There will be additional reading and short work-based tasks for learners to complete between the sessions. Learners must complete all aspects, including the additional work, to complete the course.

Aims
This course will provide an opportunity to become aware of any key changes and developments to equalities practice that the Named ENCo will need to be aware of and reflect upon.
Develop an understanding of any key changes in legislation and practice that will influence the work of the ENCo.
Increase awareness of equalities issues and explore effective strategies which could be used.
Consider how to implement any changes to further develop high-quality provision.

Aims
The course will explore the importance of listening to children and involving them in the organisation and development of our early years provisions. It will consider how effectively we are listening to children, and how their views can be used to positively influence practice and support inclusion.
Throughout the course, participants will consider the different methods of listening to children, including through non-verbal communication. The course will explore how children's voices can be used to develop the curriculum and environment, including reflecting on meeting the needs of all children and helping them to engage and thrive.
