DESIGNATED SAFEGUARDING LEAD TRAINING
Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Lead Refresher Training for Alternative Education Providers
The Government guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education requires all Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputy Leads to update their training every two years.
This refresher course is suitable for all those who have previously completed the two day Designated Safeguarding Lead/Deputy Lead training.
You will be contacted by Tracey Carter when your Refresher training is due, to arrange a convenient date. It is for this reason that dates are not published.
Aims and outcomes:
To bring participants up-to-date with new developments in safeguarding and
child protection
- To share experiences of being a designated person in relation to good practice
- To consider the various impacts of wider safeguarding on children and young people
- To receive updates on current online safety issues and digital awareness
It is imperative that you make every effort to attend on the day that has been booked to ensure that your training does not become out of date as we cannot guarantee that another place can be made available before the expiration of your certificate.

Booking Terms and Conditions
The Education Safeguarding Team is committed to providing services that are of the highest standard and meet the needs of all participants.
The following terms and conditions are standard across all courses, except Governor training and the Designated Safeguarding Person training:
A booked place on an event can be transferred to another suitable staff member up to five working days prior to the event date. Most of our courses are over-subscribed and carry waiting lists. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a course you have booked. Catering and venue costs have to be paid even if the participant does not attend and it is frustrating if someone on the waiting list is denied a place in these circumstances. Any transfer within five working days will be accepted only in the case of exceptional circumstances. Notification of this should be emailed to: ECPS.CourseBookings@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
PLEASE NOTE: It is expected that all chargeable course places booked will be paid for in full at the time of booking. Once we have received a booking, the participant will receive a training payment request email with a link to our online payment website. Course places will not be confirmed until payment is made.
Cancellation Policy
As course places are paid for at the time of booking, if a participant does not attend a course, or cancels giving less than ten working days notice, the amount paid at the time of booking will stand. If there are extenuating circumstances, the participant may be booked on to a later course date at no charge. Extenuating circumstances must be agreed with the Manager of the Education Safeguarding Team.
It is an expectation that course participants attend for the whole duration of the course in order to receive their certificate.
Changes to Courses
The Education Safeguarding Team will endeavor to provide courses as advertised. However, we reserve the right to change the date, location or the course trainer. If the participant is not available on the changed date, they will be offered a place on the next available course date.
All course bookings are subject to these terms and conditions. All bookings act as automatic agreement to these terms and conditions.
