Early years and childcare safeguarding
Safeguarding children is a key element within the regulation of childcare provision.
Childcare providers registered with Ofsted on the Early Years Register must comply with the Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements of the early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework.
Childcare Providers registered only on the Ofsted Childcare Register must comply with all core requirements, including the safeguarding aspects: Childcare Register Requirements.
Safeguarding model policies, templates, and DSL Knowledge Hub

CambsEYC has produced a range of safeguarding model policies and templates that providers in Cambridgeshire can adapt and customise for use in their setting. The DSL for Early Years and Childcare (PVI) - Knowledge Hub provides opportunities for discussion with fellow DSLs and training materials. Access to the Knowledge Hub is provided following DSL two-day training.
A flowchart and guidance are also available to support providers with managing allegations of abuse made against staff or volunteers working in the setting, as required by the EYFS 2025. Please see the download option below.
