Early Years and Childcare Safeguarding

Safeguarding children is a key element within the regulation of childcare provision.

Childcare providers registered with Ofsted on the Early Years Register must comply with the Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage September 2021.

Childcare Providers registered on only the Ofsted Childcare Register must comply with all the core requirements including the safeguarding aspects: Childcare Register Requirements.

CambsEYC offers a wide range of training for early years and childcare providers to ensure they can meet the safeguarding requirements of both the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage September 2021 and the Childcare Register Requirements.

All training includes relevant and up-to-date information about local policy and procedure to ensure a full knowledge of safeguarding duties is gained by settings.

Safeguarding Model Policies and Templates

The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage September 2021 requires childcare providers to have specific policies and procedures in place in relation to safeguarding and child protection.

CambsEYC has produced a range of safeguarding model policies and templates that providers in Cambridgeshire can adapt and customise for use in their setting. The Model Policies and templates can be accessed by members of the Early Years and Childcare: Designated Person for Child Protection Knowledge Hub.

A flowchart and guidance is also available to support providers with managing allegations of abuse made against staff or volunteers working in the setting (as required by the EYFS 2021), please see the download option below.
