Training

Teachers are responsible for the learning of all children and young people in their class.

  • Staff take the time to get to know children. For example: what they like doing, what is important to them, what they feel or think about aspects of learning, and what they feel they need help with etc.
  • Staff share good practices.
  • Staff are proactive in finding out what other services or agencies are involved with children and what they are saying or recommending.
  • Staff have opportunities to engage with relevant continuing professional development around children’s needs and approaches to helpfully address them.
  • Staff delivering interventions and providing support in the classroom follow programmes closely and ensure that their classroom support is in line with best practice guidance.
  • Staff are effective in their approach to communication, monitoring and information-sharing in relation to specific and general aspects of progress.
  • Staff are always working towards developing self-efficacy and, eventually, independence for children.
  • Staff are solution focussed and communicate encouragement and positivity in their work with children.
  • Staff provide plentiful specific and relevant feedback to build a positive growth mindset for the child.
