Specialist Guidance
If a pupil continues to experience difficulties and does not make expected progress, staff may wish to discuss the child or young person's needs with the Special Educational Needs or Disabilities Services.
The support could include any of the following:
- A review of learning approaches in a strategy audit.
- Modelling strategies for teaching assistants, for example, pre-teaching strategies.
- Model class observation for teaching staff or Special Educational Needs or Disabilities Coordinator.
- Training such as metacognition, modelling Numicon, Talking Maths, Precision Teaching.
- Interpreting the outcomes of assessments that they have carried out to inform intervention.
- SEND Surgery or consultation and in some cases direct work (e.g., observation or further assessment).
If you have concerns about inattention difficulties impacting the child’s cognition and learning skills.
