Specialist Support
In many situations where there are concerns about a child’s social, emotional, behaviour and mental health these are transient, and settings should work in partnership with parents and carers to support the child’s access to learning and development. Where there are ongoing concerns despite sensitive and consistent support settings, parents or carers may want to seek further support or guidance. In this case, the following sources may be relevant.
SEND Surgery – SEND Surgeries to provide an opportunity to get advice on what to do when you think a child may benefit from additional support. We can help you understand the Early Support Pathway and wider SEND offer. Please outline the areas you wish to cover when making your booking via Booking Bug. Please note it is a requirement, unless parental permission is in place, that children remain anonymous.
Health Visitor – Parents or carers may raise their concerns with their Health visitor, particularly where there are concerns at home.
Signpost family to Child and Family Centre – to access groups, events, activities, courses, and support for families with children.
Early Help Assessment – Where there are needs relating to the child’s behaviour at home parents may like support, where this impacts family life an Early Help Assessment may be appropriate to seek the involvement of a family worker and submit via liquid logic.
Early Support – Where concerns about children’s social, emotional, behaviour and or mental health are significantly impacting the child’s access to the setting and or significantly impacting family life it may be appropriate to make a referral to Early Support Pathway. If the parents and carers agree the setting needs to undertake an Early Help Assessment.
Where this is being considered it may be appropriate to discuss it with a member of the SEND team to discuss the referral, please email ey.send@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.
