Specialist Guidance

If a pupil continues to experience difficulties and does not make expected progress staff may wish to discuss the child or young person with a SEND District Team.

They can provide the following:

  • A review of learning approaches in a strategy audit.
  • Modelling strategies for teaching assistants such as pre-teaching strategies.
  • Model class observation for teaching staff or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinators.
  • Training e.g., inclusive or dyslexia friendly classrooms.
  • SEND Surgery or consultation and in some cases direct work (e.g., observation or further assessment).
  • Interpreting the outcomes of assessments that they have carried out to inform intervention.
