Supporting parents and children to learn together

What is Peep?

Peep LTP is an evidence-based programme that strengthens the home learning environment (HLE), improves young children’s outcomes, and helps narrow the gap in educational attainment by working in collaboration with parents.

Peep LTP sessions support:

• Increased parental confidence in the HLE.
• Improved skills for starting reception.
• Earlier identification and signposting to relevant support.
• Strengthened partnerships between practitioners and parents.
• Upskilling of practitioners.

The flexible, family-facing sessions use a strengths-based model to build parental confidence in developing the home learning environment, which, in turn, supports children’s development. Sessions are available for all ages from birth to five years.

Sessions use the ORIM framework to highlight the importance of everyday experiences and their purpose for development, whilst focusing on five key strands, linked to early years foundation stage areas of learning:

1. Personal, social and emotional development.
2. Communication and language.
3. Early literacy.
4. Early maths .
5. Health and physical development.

How is Peep LTP taking place across the county?

The sessions encourage families and children to enjoy talking, singing, sharing books and playing together during fun, everyday activities in sessions and at home.

Sessions are delivered flexibly across the county, by a range of family-facing practitioners.

This includes delivery as one-to-one sessions, in small groups, classes, embedded within existing sessions and as part of a planned sequence of sessions.

Sessions across the county are not always branded as Peep LTP, but facilitators will highlight where Peep practices and materials are used.

I am a family-facing practitioner in Cambridgeshire; how can I become trained in Peep?

The course is two full days – we have mixed availability of face-to-face and online. Free/funded places and bursaries are available to support you to join the course. Explore the requirements below, and book onto the course through the link, stating that you would like a funded place.
