Health, Safety and Wellbeing

All employers are required, by law, to have access to competent health and safety advice. We provide Schools and other educational settings with the necessary advice to enable them to comply with the health & safety legislation.

Details of core service offered:

  • Support
    • A knowledgeable and comprehensive Competent Adviser service, with a dedicated Lead Advisor to support your leadership team. Caoimhe Keenan or 01223 715309
    • Telephone/email support to assist with day-to-day enquiries, including a self-service portal.
    • Providing support for liaison with enforcement agencies
  • Training
    • Bespoke training for your Leadership Team to support their understanding of the responsibilities they have for managing health and safety
  • Guidance and advice (via the schools H&S Hub)
    • Advice on risk assessments including person-specific risk assessments, in order to fulfil legal responsibilities (e.g., Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Equality Act), including where necessary face to face visits.
    • Templates for support to manage wellbeing issues such as stress absence, DSE etc., regular articles and updates.

  • Policy and procedure
    • Provision of model health and safety policies and procedures, management checklists and supporting guidance updated in line with new legislation, case law and good practice.
  • RIDDOR management
    • Access to the Online Reporting System to enable reporting of all work-related incidents including the management of RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) reportable incidents/dangerous occurrences and support for investigation and reporting
  • Monthly health & safety e-newsletter.
  • Site specific inspections
    • Exactly what it says on the tin!

Pay as you go services:

  • Assisting with the preparation of risk assessments
    • Either on-line review of a specific risk assessment or a face-to-face visit for more complex issues
  • Undertaking workstation assessments
    • A site visit to support you to manage day to day risks associated with computer use for your office based administrative team
  • Incident investigations
    • Support either over the phone or face to face with investigation of significant incidents
  • Initial and on-going support in personal injury claims
    • Usually, telephone support to discuss the type of documents you need to collate to support management of any claim
  • A range of training courses
    • Health, safety & wellbeing management in an educational setting aimed at leaders, site managers or governors. This can include some practical training such as manual handling, working at height or risk assessment.

CLEAPSS

  • CLEAPSS Subscription 
    • Inclusion within the Council’s general membership of CLEAPSS to give access to their advisory service for science, design technology and art.

CHARGES

Maintained school: £250 annual subscription
