Fostering Service: Training, Support and Development

The County Council Fostering Service has drawn together this year’s programme with input from specialist clinicians, Community Support Services, LGSS, and colleagues from CORAM Cambridgeshire and CASUS. We have further information available about our service via

We anticipate that you find the courses on offer useful and enjoyable, if there is a course that isn’t listed then please contact our training team, as it may be that we can consider how we access this or similar courses for you with another training provider. Contact details are on the back of this brochure. Likewise should you wish to attend a particular course and cannot make the date and time we are running, or need to attend out of hours please let us know.

Case material and discussions about children are shared on training courses and therefore there is a clear expectation that all participants must respect the confidential nature of such information. Should any concerns be raised about a carer’s practice this will be raised directly by the trainers and referred to the relevant manager.

Cambridgeshire County Council’s Fostering Service is fully committed to principles of equal opportunities and is opposed to all forms of unfair discrimination and oppression. We will work to ensure that no one is treated unfairly and in all aspects of our work, we will recognise that we live in a varied and ethnically diverse society and we will expect and encourage equal participation in all aspects of our work by all people.

All the training courses detailed are aligned to the legislation and guidance that the Fostering Service works to and these are covered in each of the courses so participants are aware of them.

From April 2008 all new foster carers have been expected to achieve the Training Support and Development Standards within 12 months of their approval. The Training team and your support worker will assist you in achieving the aforementioned certificate in order to help you maintain your registration.

Good luck with your training in the year ahead and thank you for making the commitment to care for and improve the future for children.
