Schools Admission and Appeals Service / Fair Access Panel

In accordance with legislation we co-ordinate the School Admissions process for all children who live within, or are moving to Cambridgeshire and are transferring to school for the first time, or joining a school in the school’s first year of entry eg. Reception, Year 7. We also co-ordinatate the annual consultation proposals.

We co-ordinate the in-year admission process free of charge for all schools, maintained and academies, who ask us to provide this service for them.

The services listed below are also provided free of charge to Community and voluntary controlled Schools

If you manage your own admissions, the following services can be provided at a charge:

  1. Validation Service
  2. Admission Appeals Service
  3. Additional Admissions tasks, Accelerations and Deferrals, Admissions Policy Checking Service.

Fair Access Panel

The Fair Access Panel meet on a weekly basis, to discuss school applications for vulnerable children.  All schools are invited to attend these meetings, at any time, to either discuss a particular case or simply observe the proceedings.  The Panel continue to work towards a fair and considered approach to fair access cases and the participation from school representatives who attend these meetings, is extremely helpful and enables clear and informed discussions.
