School Business and Facilities

All employers are required, by law, to have access to competent health & safety advice. We provide Schools and other educational settings with the necessary advice to enable them to comply with the health & safety legislation.

Services and Charges

Core service:

  • Telephone and email advice and guidance;
  • Provision of a School Safety Management System (via the schools portal) including model policies, advice notes, management checklists and proformas and generic risk assessments;
  • Access to an Online Reporting system for all incidents and dangerous occurrences and management of statutory reporting of incidents / dangerous occurrences to the Health and Safety Executive;
  • Provision of an annual performance management report;
  • An audit of school health and safety each academic year to include an action plan to improve health and safety and a report on health and safety performance for the Governing Body (N.B. This time can be used for other activities (e.g. training) at the purchaser’s discretion);
  • One day’s consultancy per academic year. (N.B. This can be taken across the academic year);
  • Termly health & safety e-newsletter.

Non-Core service:

  • Providing support for liaison with enforcement agencies;
  • Assisting with the preparation of risk assessments;
  • Undertaking workstation assessments;
  • Site specific inspections; and
  • incident investigations
  • A range of training courses

We also provide Fire Safety , Security Management and Asbestos Management and it is possible to combine these services, at a discounted rate, with the general OH&S provision offered here.  

Charges

Part-funded for Maintained schools / Chargeable for Academies.

Core services:

  • Maintained - Free of charge (some fees may apply to Foundations and VA schools – Price on Application)
  • Academies - Annual retainer plus a charge per pupil:
  • Secondary: £1000 plus £1.00 per pupil
  • Primary/Early Years: £750 plus 0.75p per pupil

Additional services:

  • Maintained - Free of charge (some fees may apply to Foundations and VA schools – Price on Application)
  • Academies - Charged at the Health and Safety Adviser hourly rate of £50 (up to a maximum of £350 per day). Costs will include travel time.
