NQT Induction: The role of the Appropriate Body

The appointment of an Appropriate Body (AB) is a statutory requirement for the induction period of newly qualified teachers and the AB makes the final decision as to whether an NQT has met the Teachers' Standards on the recommendation of the Headteacher / Principal.

Cambridgeshire County Council can act as the AB for LA maintained schools, academies, independent schools, sixth form and FE colleges.

Please find the NQT Appropriate Body Terms of Reference.

The Council's Service Level Agreement (SLA) includes additional services, e.g. Induction Tutor briefings and NQT Conferences at no additional charge. Further information can be found in the SLA guidance below.

  • In county schools (including all maintained, academy, independent, sixth form and FE colleges) - £99 per NQT, per term.
  • Out of county schools - £109 per NQT, per term.

A 15% discount is applied per NQT after the first 5.
