Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
The Early Years Service offers a range of flexible, quality assured support, advice and guidance to early years and childcare providers. Early Years Advisors work with member and non-member settings and their role includes supporting settings to promote inclusive practice and with the early identification of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Member settings have access to additional support and training bundles, as well as telephone and email support from Early Years Advisers who can support with SEND issues.
There is a universal offer to all settings of SEND Surgeries throughout the county three times a year. These provide the opportunity for a provider to have a half an hour face to face meeting with an advisor to discuss anonymised concerns relating to SEND, this includes concerns about individuals or groups of children who are not already known to SEND Specialist services. Information on upcoming dates of SEND surgeries and how to book a space will be available here at a later stage.
Special Educational Needs Inclusion Funding (SENIF) provides a contribution to the support settings put in place for children with significant and complex needs. Further information about SENIF can be found on the SENIF page.
