Promoting Equalities and Inclusion in Early Years and Childcare
Highly Commended in the 2014 Nursery World awards.
This unique resource, developed in Cambridgeshire to support inclusion and equalities in Cambridgeshire provision, is now available to purchase nationally.
The Equalities Handbook describes and explores the role of the Equalities Named Coordinator (ENCo) in raising awareness of, championing and embedding inclusive practice in early years and childcare provision. The Handbook contains brand new content to reflect the most recent legislation and guidance on narrowing the gap for all priority groups, and working with families who have English as an additional language (EAL).
The Equalities Handbook comes with a CD-ROM of useful templates and resources which can be used by providers to make their own, to monitor progress and support improvements in practice.
Developed by specialist staff from Cambridgeshire’s Early Years and Racial Equality and Diversity Services, the handbook was recently “highly commended” for a national award for promoting inclusive practice.
It can be offered:
• as a stand-alone resource.
• with implementation support for local authority adviser teams.
• as a supported model to implement with providers in your area.
• with additional training support.
