Forest School Qualifications Training 2020-21 courses and dates
Cambridgeshire County Council are excited to be working with huathe to deliver Forest School qualifications.
huathe’s unique Forest School training course is suitable for everyone as it contains Levels 1, 2, and 3.
Level 3 is the most popular course as it equips you to run Forest School. Forest School leaders take this course and learn the practical skills, theoretical and nature knowledge and all of the necessary paperwork for Forest School to be successful. Students are teachers, Early Years Practitioners, Teaching and Learning Assistants, Headteachers and sometimes Wildlife Experts or Rangers. The course takes around 9 months to complete including 9 days of training; a personal visit from one of the trainers and your own study. You can begin your Forest School journey at this level. You need to be over 21, with at least 2 years of experience of working with children and a Level 2 certificate or above in child care or teaching.
Level 2 is the course for people who want to help at Forest School, but not be the Forest School leader. It is great for committed staff, volunteers and sometimes parents who are interested and is a good grounding in Forest School. It includes 5 days of training and some course work where students assist at a Forest School. Level 2 students are able to ‘top up’ to Level 3 with us – you do not need Level 2 to begin Level 3.
Level 1 is an introduction to Forest School and suitable for people who wish to know more about Forest School, but who don’t want to lead Forest School groups. It includes 3 days of training and includes observations of other Forest School sessions. Level 1 students are able to ‘top up’ to Levels 2 and 3 – you do not need to begin your journey here if you know you would like to be a Forest School Assistant or leader.
Please note that all Level 3 practitioners need to have a full Outdoor Paediatric First Aid certificate and the dates for this will be added soon.
This unique model of training will be ideal for those working in schools and/or settings that may wish to complete different levels of qualifications but still train together, e.g. one person will attend either two or four days, hearing the same messages as their colleague who will return for the further tutor led sessions to gain their leaders qualification.
Anybody enrolling on the four days of the level two qualification would be welcomed at the additional tutor-led sessions, if they wanted to pay the extra fees and ‘top up’ to the level 3.
The first cohort of Learners have started their FS qualification courses. These will be continued in the autumn. The video clip gives an insight of what learning with us is like:
